I have a PowerVault running Storage Server 2008r2 that had 8 drives in a RAID housing a virtual disk (forgive me if my terminology isn't perfect...how it came from Dell). I needed to add space to that array, so I popped in another 2TB drive (matched the existing ones), went into Openmanage Server Admin, reconfigure the virtual disk, added the new drive, and let it finish the process (took 4 days). The virtual disk now correctly shows 15TB of space (the new size after adding the drive). The problem is that I can't use that 2TB of new space no matter what I do.
In disk management I can see the 2TB showing at the end of the Dynamic Disk as unallocated, but I can't perform any process on that space to make it usable (extend the preceding volume G into it, create a simple volume, etc). Every time I try I get "not enough space on the disk". I've tried to rescan the disks as I've seen mentioned before, but it still yields the same results.
I also have MiniTool Partition Wizard Ent. installed. I've tried that route as well. When I go into the move/resize function for the G volume, the 2TB unallocated space doesn't show as available. Maybe related to the 1MB OTHER volume that lies between them?? I can't do anything with that one either.
anything I can do here? I'm stumped.
Thanks!
