Help! SAS Drive Changed to Foreign

$

I have a test R710 server that runs Vmware. The server has three SAS drives, and one of the drives changed to FOREIGN. Is there anyway that I might be able to access that drive, or am I SOL. I was using it for some test development/learning, and would love to be able to recover some of the VMs on that drive. I should have ordered a couple of extra drives to setup mirroring, and put it off too long. It figures that the drive contained my Domain controller, in addition to another VM desktop machine that I used a lot. Any help would be very much appreciated.

OMSA missing power consumption information after a reboot

Hello,

We recently rebooted one of our PE 2950's; since rebooting OpenManage is unable to get any power usage information from the PSUs. In "PowerManagement in OMSA" the error we see is:

Power Consumption Information is not available on this system because all the Power Supply units on your system do not support PMBus or the firmware on your system does not support power monitoring.

It was working perfectly prior to the reboot!

Baseboard Management Controller version2.05
Remote Access Controller firmware version1.33

OMSA Version 6.3.0

Any ideas?!

Thanks,

Rob

Dell RACADM Command to set "User Interface Title Bar information"

I'm looking to automate a setting on our iDrac’s.  This setting is the User Interface Title Bar Information.  We either want to set this to Auto or System Host.

Do you know what the RACADM command would be to set this setting?

(User Interface Title Bar information)

I think maybe having this set to System host name is better:

What to use: Dell OMSA 32bit or 64bit?

Hi all,

In our serverpark we are running Dell OMSA on our physical servers. The majority of these servers run Windows 2008 R2 or higher, some of them run Windows Server 2003 (mostly 32-bit). Physically, all servers have x64 CPU architecture. The installed OMSA software on all of these servers is not consistent. We have 2008 R2 servers with either the 32-bit or the 64-bit version.

It is my goal to bring all servers up to the same level which still supports our older servers as well. That will be version 7.4.0.2.

My question: On all 2008 R2 servers (64-bit OS), should I push the 64-bit version of OMSA and leave the 2003 servers on 32-bit? Or should I run ALL servers with 32-bit, regardless of OS? Is there a preference of one above the other? My priorities are:

1. Best technically under-build solution,
2. Most possible homogeneous landscape.

Thanks for your time,
Jaap.

Computer stops

When scrolling through Face book the computer will just freeze, also when typing a message, it will just stop.  In both instances, it will resume normal operation after a very short wait.  10-20 seconds, perhaps as much as 30 seconds.  When it pauses, I try using the touch screen and it is the same, I just have to wait.

can not login iDRAC7 please help

hi there,

one of my R620 has problem and I can not login normally,  so I try to login iDRAC7 card (it has dedicated eth port and ip)  with IE browser, it always display something like "no more sessions..."

I then execute the CLI "racadm"  on redhat linux,  the racadm verison is 8.1.0. but got a message like this:

--->  ERROR: Unable to connect to RAC at specified IP address.

I am pretty sure I am using the right ip and password.  Then I tried to "ssh" to the iDRAC ip directly, but  got a message as below

---> "No more sessions are available for this type of connection!"

I am pretty sure I never ssh logged in this iDRAC before. What can I do now, please help.

CMC web interface access lost, requires RACRESET, inconsistent, but recurring

Under the CMC 4.5, we were able to reliably access CMC via the web interface for ~3 months. In January, we added externally signed certificates to the CMC (required by parent organization). We updated the CMC to 5.00 and we tried (failed) to enable user authentication through active directory.

After each change, the system seemed to work properly. After a few days, the web interface is no longer accessible (no response) and there is no error message. Physically removing the active CMC does force the CMC controller to flip, but it doesn't restore the web interface.

The only way to restore the web interface is to SSH to the CMC and executing the command "RACRESET SOFT". Upon reset, the web interface works fine.

After another day or two, the web interface stops responding again.

The upgrade to 5.0.1 helped on one chassis, but it still happens once a week on the other.

I thought the issue might be tied to attempted failed logons, but it is not that consistent.

In the hardware and CMC log, I can't find anything clearly related to this. Started about that time, a regular series of 30 second losses in redundancy appears in the log. These might actually be the RACRESET instead of the cause.

Any assistance in how I can troubleshoot this will be greatly appreciated.

Open Manage Server Administrator for Oracle Virtual Server v. 3.2.7

Hi All,

Is there a build of Open Manage Server Administrator that can be installed in Oracle Virtual Server v. 3.2.7?  I am running Oracle VS on Dell PE R810's and PER820's and would like to be able to install Open Manage Server Administrator on the servers running Oracle Virtual Server.  If so, which repository would I make use of?  Also, is there a way to get updates for the PE servers, i.e.  firmware, bios, drivers, etc., for these servers, directly from a PowerEdge repository?

Thanks for any assistance you can provide,

Eric. :)

Devices scan in as unknown devices.

Hello all. I have recently installed an instance of version 2.0.1 after testing version 1 in a non prod environment.

I am following the same procedure for scanning our blades into OME in that I am targeting the iDRAC ip on the blade and using the WS MAN protocal to do so. This procedure worked fine in the previous version but doesn't do the trick currently.

Did something change from one version to the next. The blades are running ESXi  which should not matter as we are pushing the updates down via the DRAC.

Any advice would be appreciated.

[REGRESSION] Broken User Authentication in iDRAC7, firmware 2.10

We've observed problem with new R320 that came with pre-loaded firmware 2.10.10.10. After setting password in iDRAC7 it was rejected on login. After spending some time on diagnosis we've discovered that only first 20 characters of full password (40 characters) were stored and can be used to login.

Dell R720 with old firmware (1.57.57) works fine - full length password (40 characters) is properly stored and accepted on login.

Password was changed in iDRAC Settings -> User Authentication section.

remoteimage to Windows share

we had scripts setup to connect the virtual CD to an image file on a windows server, this was working fine as we had an NFS share setup with anonymous access.  Recently they changed policy and we cannot use the NFS share so I need to connect to a secured Windows share but I'm having trouble with the command, specifically I can't get the authentication working, keep getting invalid username or password on the windows server, tried using domain acct and local acct, it does not like the id in domainserver\userid format, drops the backslash, have tried /\ but only sees the forward slash.  Here is the command line:

racadm -r mydrac -u dracid -p dracpassword remoteimage -c -u somedomain\mydomainuser -p mypw -l /\/\someserver.someplace.com/\test$/\servername.ISO

also tried:

racadm -r mydrac -u dracid -p dracpassword remoteimage -c -u localserveruser -p mypw -l /\/\someserver.someplace.com/\test$/\servername.ISO

racadm -r mydrac -u dracid -p dracpassword remoteimage -c -u somedomain/\mydomainuser -p mypw -l /\/\someserver.someplace.com/\test$/\servername.ISO

Thank you,

RAC Tool "Verification Failed"

I've installed the RAC tool on a Win8 workstation for use configuring four "new" R610 servers.  The RAC tool discovers the iDRAC6s fine, but it won't verify the admin accounts.

The servers are currently on a small work group LAN so I've not configured AD or DNS, and haven't added accounts beyond the "root" account.  So root is what i'm giving RAC as the administrator account.  The iDRAC has been updated to the latest version (as well as the BIOS and LC).  The Web UI works great.

Suggestions?

Dell 2162DS unable to use KVM console due to Java

I have a 2162DS and with a recent Java upgrade on our workstations we are no longer able to access the console for devices connected to the KVM unit due to a Java security error.

We have added the URL of the 2162DS into the Java exception list and cleared all the java cache and browser cache and still no go.

The firmware of the 2162DS is at:

Application 1.16.0.20726
Boot 2.1.20060

Any ideas how to get console working again?

OpenManage Power Center and APC PDU

$

Dell Community,

I have OpenManage Power Center setup and running and am trying to connect up our various APC equipment to the console.

We have two APC AP8858 PDU's which connect to OMPC via SNMPv3 on our private power management network without issue.

The APC AP8858's each have a slot for a environmental sensor which we have setup.

The Problem: The OpenManage Power Center is only reading the POWER usage stats from the PDU's. The environmental data (temperature) is not being read from the SNMPv3 connection.

SNMPv3 event traps work fine, so if we have a violation based on the individual PDU settings, OpenManage gets the message.

I would like to manage the event warning threshold settings globally from the OMPC console and not have to rely on manually configured event traps on each APC device.

How do I get the temp data from the PDU's to be read and recorded in OpenManage Power Center for historical and real time monitoring?

Thanks,

Donald Babcock

On boot it shows version 2.5.2, but both iDRAC/Lifecyle controller shows the former version 2.4.3 and suggest update. Any insight ?
