iDRAC7 1.50.50 Where did it go?

$

As we know iDRAC and Lifecycle controller firmware’s normally upgrade in pairs, ie:

iDRAC7 1.50.50 with LC2 1.3.0.
iDRAC7 1.45.45 with LC2 1.1.5
etc etc

The firmware update ordering should normally occur in this order: IDRAC->LC2->BIOS-> etc etc

So interestingly, in the new catalog (739G8, 16th Dec 2013), I see new versions of LC2 and BIOS, but no iDRAC. Which puts the brakes on my next maint window.

I saw iDRAC 1.50.50 on the web just the other day, but now seems to be removed from the download site.

Does anyone know why?

Thanks

Firmware, BIOS and Bitlocker

So trying to install various firmware and BIOS updates on a Server 2012 R610.

Bitlocker is enabled.

Suspend Bitlocker, try to run installs and they still complain that Bitlocker is enabled.

The only work around for this I've seen involves messing around with a Linux DVD! I really don't have the inclination to wander around a bunch of servers with a DVD.

Tried the installs manually and via OME 1.2

So, obvious question, why don't the installers recognise that Bitlocker has been suspended and when will this be fixed?

Cannot upgrade system firmware from vCenter Management Plugin

I'm currently experiencing an issue with a single server in our vSphere 5 farm.

We have about two dozen systems currently under the vCenter Management Plugin and don't really have many issues updating these devices but I have one R610 which refuses to apply updates any longer.

Here's the error...

Dell Hardware Update Task
R610.company.net
Error
Failed sending update file: (R610_BIOS_93WDP_WN32_6.3.0.EXE) to iDRAC - Details iDRAC is currently busy updating the given device, please try later.

I've tried reuploading images for the Lifecycle Management Controller, and the iDRAC firmware but nothing seems to be able to clear this message.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

R310 motherboard replacement not working

Hello, I'm hoping someone will have some answers for me.  We have 2 - Poweredge R310 servers that just died on us (within a week) our support ended and we have a new R720 on the way.  I ordered 2 motherboards and put one in.  It will power up now (which was the original problem) but now there is no video and the fans are running at maximum.  If I were able to at least get the video to work then I would be able to get more information.

So far I have a new motherboard in place.  I removed all memory except for one stick.  There are no drives plugged in right now.

When the server is plugged in the fans immediately go to max.  The power light (on the power button) blinks slowly.

I appreciate any insight.

Thanks,

Bob

racadm and PowerEdge VRTX CMC: Fully Qualified Descriptor (FQDD) for Physical disks are not recognized.

Hello, I am experiencing an inconsistent behavior from racadm utility while issuing "createvd" against the shared PERC8.

If I try to get physical disks descriptions, racadm returns the entire list of FQDD of pdisks

> racadm -r 172.24.0.100 -u root -p calvin raid get pdisks

Success

But if I try to issue a createvd sub-command, FQDD are reported as invalid.

is getting back an error message

STOR009 : Physical disk FQDD did not identify a valid physical disk for the operation.

Am I missing anything?

As far I can see racadm and createvd syntax is correct.

Thanks.

TPM Activation Using CCTK

I have tried several different ways to activate the TPM using CCTK.  I can turn on the TPM using CCTK but it will not activate.  I have tried with and without the password.  I have tried to turn it on, then reboot, then activate, and reboot again and still no luck.  I have cleared the TPM and reset the BIOS to default settings.  Has anybody had any luck automating this process?

The Repositroy Manager starts the download of the 64-bit SUU plug-in but it always halts at 83.4MB of the reported 278MB. Any ideas why?

The plug-in file is SUU64_730.cab

I am running Dell Repository Manager v.1.8.0.89

I have successfully downloaded the 32-bit SUU and ISO plug-ins so it is not a proxy issue

iDrac7 and Active Directory Authentication

I am doing testing on a VRTX using iDRAC7 and following the document below.

ftp://ftp.dell.com/manuals/Common/integrated-dell-remote-access-cntrllr-7-v1.10.10_White%20Papers1_en-us.pdf

Uploading the Active Directory certiricate into iDRAC7 does not work (Page 13). I get RAC0169: Certificate upload failed: Certificate is not valid.

I am showing the RAC time is not correct and no matter what I set it to in the GUI for time zone, it never changes the time. I am assuming this probably has something to do with why the certificate upload fails. For the life of me I cant get the DRAC time to change.

Ideas?

Brian

DSM SA Data Manager won't start after updating firmware and driver on H700 Controller

I have been updating firmware on a bunch of our T710 and R710 servers recently for the H700 Controller.  I have been noticing now that the DSM SA Data Manager service is no longer starting when the server reboots and when I manually try to start the service, I am getting the following:

Windows could not start the DSM SA Data Manager service on Local Computer.  Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly.

When I look at the Windows Event log, I am seeing the following three entries being entered:

invcol causes Segmentation fault (core dumped)

I am installing OM 7.3.0.1 on SELS 11 sp3 64 bit servers.

Install goes fine and everything starts fine until I install the collection manager, srvadmin-cm-7.3.0-350.

After I install cm and try to start I get a segmentation fault and core dump.  After some troubleshooting I discovered that /opt/dell/srvadm/sbin/invcol is the culprit.

From the log file:  invcol[6608]: segfault at 0 ip 00000000f726f44d sp 00000000ffe848b8 error 4 in libc-2.11.3.so[f71f7000 +167000]

I've installed OM on several SELS 11 sp2 64 bit with no issues.  OM starts up and runs just fine.

It appears to me as if there is a slight difference in the glibc-32bit library's, but I don't know what.  SELS 11 sp2 has glibc-32bit-2.11.3-17.31.1 and SELS 11 sp3 has glibc-32bit-2.11.3-17.54.1.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Running BIOS Packaged Installer Doesn't Update BIOS

I am sure I am missing something simple here. I am trying to update the BIOS on my R610 server running Windows 2003 SP2 (i know, please hold your laughter!). I am using the packaged updater R610_BIOS_C6MRW_R283421.EXE, which I thought could just be run via a double-click and away you go! However, it seems to run but then when I reboot and run the installer again, it shows the old BIOS version (2.1.15).

Please tell me I am missing something real simple here!

Thanks all!

On iDRAC6 that command is not valid so is there a way to see the queue with a racadm command on iDRAC6? There is noting discussing job or queue or jobqueue in the racaadm command pdf for 6.

OpenManage showing invalid drive information Dell R900

Have a Dell R900 with 2 1 GB mirrored SAS drives.  One of the two drives failed so we purchased a new drive, installed it, and started a rebuild.  After several days OpenManage was still showing the status of the new drive as rebuilding with 0% complete.  I was curious so I exported the raid controller log file and it shows that the drive actually completed the rebuild successfully and is in optimal status.  I tried restarting openmanage to see if that would refresh the status but it had no effect.  Has anyone ever seen something like this where incorrect information is persistently displayed?  The rebuild completed 3 days ago but if you look at Openmanage it says nothing has happened.  Is there something that can be done other than restarting openmanage to get it to re-poll the hardware?  I'm pasting the log file showing the rebuild completing below.

Have a question on updating the iDRAC 6 Express. Current firmware is 1.41 and I want to get it up to the latest. Looking at the various downloads available, all of them between V 1.41 and V 1.8 do not list the PE R710 in the Supported Systems list. Does anyone know if you can make the jump from 1.41 straight to 1.8?

Thanks!
