I installed the heartbleed patch on my OME 1.3 install and now every time I do any kind of discovery scan, the DSM essentials network monitor service crashes. The software is running on a Windows 2012 r2 machine with 4 cores and 10 gb ram.

Power Cycle Dell Server via iDrac BASIC edition

Hi All,

I have a server DELL T320 that I need to power cycle remotely (server has crashed so need to power cycle it ASAP).

I have IDrac Basic v7 and I am able to login to the iDrac https://x.x.x.x but there is NO option to reset the Server Crying

I also installed Dell Open manage Essential and can't see a way or reboot the server there too via the iDRAC / IPMI.

I have heard it is possible to reboot the server using IPMI tools and I have tried stuff like IPMIUtils but can't work out how to do it and also not sure will that only reboot the iDrac and not the server?

Any advice welcomed.

Many thanks in advance

If CSIOR (Collect System Inventory on Restart) is enabled should all the LastSystemInventoryTime properties agree with the last boot time?

Thanks for any help.

FRU info via WSMAN and idrac/LC

$

I would like to get all the FRU (Field Replaceable Unit) information via WSMAN to the idrac/LC but can't find what and/or how to query the idrac. I have no problem querying all the DCIM classes but cant figure out how to query the CIM classes or even if it is possible.

I know how to get the FRU info via the OS if OMSA is installed but I want to get it via the idrac/LC:
get-wmiobject cim_fru -Namespace root\cimv2\dell

If all the FRU information is not possible, how do I get the disk controller serial number? I didn't see it in DCIM_ControllerView or the "RAID Attribute Registry"

Thanks for any help!

Dell OMSA 7.4 HTTPS Listener not getting configured during install on Windows Server 2012R2 Update 1

$

This has been an issue with OMSA for a few versions now, the pre req checker detects that the HTTPS Listener is not configured for WinRM, click here to configure it. Clicking on the link does nothing and the error remains when you rescan dependencies. In Server 2008 you can get around this by manually installing a computer certificate on the server but this does not seem to work in 2012R2

Has anyone been able to get this working, I believe this is causing issues with OMSA sending server details through to OpenManage Essentials.

Servers are PowerEdge R620's

Cheers

SLAD File Replication errors

$

Well, I've been looking and looking but I can't find a Spotlight on AD forum. Please point me in the right direction if there is.

Our SLAD keeps reporting that there are replication issues between our main DC in London and our DC in New York. The thing is, I can't find any supporting evidence. I increased the timeout period from 15 minutes to 30 minutes in the Verify File Replication test to allow for any latency between here and NYC but we still get the errors.

Also, I should say that the tests do sometimes succeed. e.g.

  • Alert raised at 00:11:14 GMT Standard Time - Verify File Replication Health test failed.
  • Alert raised at 01:11:15 GMT Standard Time - Verify File Replication Health test failed.
  • Alert raised at 01:31:51 GMT Standard Time - Find Replication Failures test failed
  • Alert raised at 02:11:14 GMT Standard Time - Verify File Replication Health test failed
  • Alert cleared at 02:31:51 GMT Standard Time - Find Replication Failures test completed successfully.
  • Alert raised at 03:11:14 GMT Standard Time - Verify File Replication Health test failed.
  • Alert raised at 04:11:15 GMT Standard Time - Verify File Replication Health test failed.
  • Alert raised at 05:11:15 GMT Standard Time - Verify File Replication Health test failed.
  • Alert raised at 06:11:14 GMT Standard Time - Verify File Replication Health test failed.
  • Alert raised at 07:11:15 GMT Standard Time - Verify File Replication Health test failed.
  • Alert raised at 08:11:15 GMT Standard Time - Verify File Replication Health test failed.
  • Alert raised at 09:11:14 GMT Standard Time - Verify File Replication Health test failed.
  • Alert raised at 09:31:51 GMT Standard Time - Find Replication Failures test failed.
  • Alert raised at 10:11:14 GMT Standard Time - Verify File Replication Health test failed.
  • Alert cleared at 10:31:51 GMT Standard Time - Find Replication Failures test completed successfully.
  • Alert raised at 11:11:15 GMT Standard Time - Verify File Replication Health test failed.

Since I can't find any supporting errors on either of the DCs I'm wondering if this is a false result. Or perhaps I'm just looking in the wrong places!

Any pointers gratefully received...

Can't connect from OMSA to ESXi5.0.0

$

Hi all

I have installed OM 7.3. on ESXi5.0.0 (build 1311175)

~ # esxcli software vib list | grep -i open
OpenManage              7.3-0000                              Dell      VMwareAccepted    2014-01-22

From Windows 2008 on which I have installed OMSA I am unable to connect to this ESXi (no firewall between), it always says "Login failed... connection timeout".

My understanding is that OMSA tries to use port 1311, so I've tried to telnet but no joy. On ESXi I've run equivalent of netstat and don't see anything running/listening on port 1311, only openwsmand on 8889.

~ # esxcli network ip connection list | grep -i listen
tcp         0       0  127.0.0.1:8889   0.0.0.0:0            LISTEN        7789252  openwsmand

I've tried to change to port 1311 in /etc/openwsman/openwsman.conf but this doesn't work

~ # cat /etc/openwsman/openwsman.conf
[server]
port=8889

It gets back to 8889 after running /etc/init.d/wsman restart.

I also tried to telnet to ESXi on port 8889 but it also doesn't work.

So question is: how to connect to remote ESXi from Windows 2008 with OMSA installed?

Do I need to make openwsmand running on 1311?

Thanks

Recurring OMSA error

An OMSA component is generating the following alert with Event ID 1000 in the Application log on a number of our servers on a daily basis (once or twice a day around 2 am and/or 8 pm):

Event Description: Faulting application name: wmiprvse.exe, version: 6.2.9200.16384, time stamp: 0x5010ad15
Faulting module name: Xalan-C_1_10.dll, version: 1.10.0.0, time stamp: 0x50587adc
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x0000000000004cc5
Faulting process id: 0x694

Faulting application path: C:\Windows\system32\wbem\wmiprvse.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Program Files\Dell\SysMgt\oma\bin\Xalan-C_1_10.dll

We saw the errors with OMSA 7.3 and they continue with 7.4.  Are other customers seeing these errors and does someone with more Apache experience have an explanation for them?

Could someone please help me to disable iDRAC6 module, because at restarts it frequently displays an error, as if system is rebooting (but it doesn't) and only cold reset helps - unplugging the power.

Hi,

I get connectivity issue with an ESX4.1 free license and dell supportassist.

Failed to gather Software/Logs data. Check the IP Address and credentials.

I tried this but same result:

DellSystemInfo.exe -s <IPADDR> -u <LOGIN>  -d hw,sw -r c:\dset-name.zip.

Credentials are ok. telnet to Esxi server 443 and 5989 ok. discovery in OME is OK.

Any ideas?

Is there any network ports to open from esxi to Dell Supportassist server?

Kind Regards,

WSMAN identity module update

Hello,

I am able to update BIOS/LC/DRAC firmware all with WSMAN with no problems.

When I try to schedule a firmware update normally and I use the identity module file, the update job never schedules successfully.

I hav automated the id_module update with Selenium, but this is less than ideal.

Any tips?  Anything is greatly appreciated.

Error 0x8004103a for samplewakonlan.vbs

$

I've installed OMCI 8.2.1 on a Dell Optiplex 9020 with Windows 7 x64.

I get the error \samplewakeonlan.vbs(51, 1) (null): 0x8004103A

This is line 51 :

Set objInstance = GetObject("WinMgmts:{impersonationLevel=impersonate," & "AuthenticationLevel=pktprivacy}\\" & strComputerName & "\" & strNameSpace & ":" & strClassName & "=" & Chr(34) & strKeyValue & Chr(34))

I've used Wbemtest to connect to root\dcim\sysman and examined DCIM_BIOSEnumeration.  No key exists for BiosSetupWOL.  The closest I can find is WolcEnuBsetpObj.  the Query result from wbemtest reports 67 objects from DCIM_BIOSEnumeration.  I ran a TPM sample script ok, but other sample scripts are not running ok.

I looked at the reference guide for 8.2.1 (ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_software/esuprt_client_sys_mgmt/esuprt_client_sys_mgmt_opnmang_clnt_instr/dell-opnmang-clnt-instr-v8.2.1_Reference%20Guide_en-us.pdf) and it has a different looking wake on lan script, but that doesn't work either.  It has a double variable definition (Dim oInParms) and uses class DCIM_BIOSService and attribute name "Wake On Lan".  wbemtest doesn't show this strvaluename exists either when enumerating DCIM_BIOSSERVICE.  It only has one object that has a description "DCIM_BIOSSErvice is a Dell mapping of the CIM_BIOSService but nothing that says "Wake On Lan"

I've seen other posts on these forums with similar error and I don't see that anyone came up with the proper way to run the scripts.

What's the proper Class that contains the necessary WOL strkeyvalue?

Problem using racadm to set CSR settings with latest iDRAC firmware

$

I have noticed a problem trying to set certain CSR settings whose values contain a space using racadm on iDRACs with the latest firmware.  I have a script I use to automate the configuration of all of our new DRACs, and nothing has changed recently with my script or the config it applies.  Before generating a CSR for each DRAC, my script applies the cfgRacSecCsr settings from a config file.

This morning I was getting errors from racadm when trying to apply settings from the config file.  I ran racadm config -c -f D:\CSR_Settings.cfg to verify the configuration file and it returned: ERROR: Invalid value in config file. Group: cfgRacSecurity, Object: cfgRacSecCsrOrganizationName, Value: "Company Name With Spaces", Line [3]

Editing the cfg file to remove the spaces results in it returning "RAC configuration file is valid"

This is a problem when trying to set cfgRacSecCsrOrganizationName and cfgRacSecCsrOrganizationUnit with a value that has a space in it.

I found one server that somehow still has an old version of the iDRAC firmware (version 1.30.30) and values with spaces for these settings work fine with it.

The firmware versions I can verify this is an issue on are 1.56.55 and 1.57.57.

OM Integration for vCenter - Deployment network question

I'm trying to use the deployment functionality within the OM Integration for vCenter 2.1.

When I get to the point of picking which NIC to use, I'm only provided a list of NIC's on Fabric A.  We currently use Fabric B for Routed (Management, and Corp Services) and Fabric C for non-routed (NFS and vMotion).  Our Fabric A switches aren't populated.

Is there a way to make the Fabric B NIC's show up as an option?

First picture shows that I'm only presented with Fab A NICs

2nd Picture shows that Fab B and Fab C are also populated with NIC's:

When trying to run the .BIN it complains about:

The following packages are required for update package to run:
compat-libstdc++-33.i686 libstdc++.i686 libxml2.i686

Then when I try to install them you is not happy that I am trying to install a 32-bit version when I am already running a 64-bit version:

Protected multilib versions: libxml2-2.7.6-14.el6_5.1.i686 != libxml2-2.7.6-14.el6.x86_64

How do I get around this?
